Trends
Here's the biggie. Here is the key to betting on sports. You can disagree that Trends occur but look no further than the current sports page in your daily newspaper.
Go over the standings in any sport and you'll see 3 4 5 6 7 game streaks, both on the win side and the losing side. That's because Trends dominate.
I live and die with streaks, especially in baseball because there is no laying of points or runs. It's just pick the winner and pray. Sure, you gotta lay a little vig but that is also kept in control by cutting potential wins, while at the same time reducing potential losses.
That last sentence gives you an idea that there re ways of managing your money and when the time comes, we'll delve into it big time. But for now let's get back to Trends.
My friend, Ben A. Loser, has been in a career losing slump. He hasn't had a date since his junior Prom. lot because he's ugly but because he is just in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong gal as is prey.
He's tried everything but kidnapping to get a ,chick to spend some time with him, but the excuses roll off their lips like a 30 mm. machine gun:
(A) You're too tall
(B) You're too rich
(C) You're too short
(D) You're too busy
(E) I'm engaged
(F) can't date you this weekend, I'm getting married, but call me in a month
(G) My father doesn't like Irish guys
(H) My mother doesn't like your shoes
The excuses go on and on and still Ben A. Loser stays a loser. Funny thing happened though. A few nights ago, he got a flat tire and some girl stopped and changed the tire for him. They hit it off big and when they stopped in at some diner the waitress spilled coffee on his pants. While she was cleaning him off, they had a little eye contact and now he had two phone numbers given to him in one night.
He got home, called to tell me the good news, got a wrong number and ended up talking with some girl for 3 hours. They met the next day and he got 3 dates.
Yesterday he fell down a flight of stairs, broke his left ankle and right wrist and they had to call an ambulance. The driver was turned on by Ben and slipped him her phone number.
When they got to the hospital they put him in the maternity ward by mistake. When they wheeled him into the delivery room, they noticed their mistake. One of the nurses was so ashamed she gave Ben her phone number and invited him over for dinner once he leaves the hospital.
The guy is on some roll. He is on an unbelievable streak and who knows when it will end. But the streaks happen all the time in everything we do.
The trick in sports betting is to pick up on the trends and be able to take advantage of them. The opposite is also true in knowing when to lay off teams going in bad streaks.
But being aware of Trends and making money on them will be a big part of my Theory, and the Theory is logical because of all the streaks and Trends that do occur.
Incidentally, I forgot to mention that Ben had a little bad luck when he was in the hospital. Coming back from his mistaken trip to the Maternity ward, the wheelchair overturned and Ben was thrown down a flight of stairs where he broke his other ankle and his jaw.
They had to put him on a liquid diet, He contracted food poisoning from the diet and was moved to the Intensive Care Unit.
They mistakenly gave him a sedative and the next morning mistook him for another patient and removed his appendix.
But he got another infection and has been transferred to a special hospital in Hot Springs, Newfoundland, where he'll be for 6 to 8 months. He won't be able to call all those girls who gave him their number.
So bad things run in Trends too and that is why it's important for you to keep your eyes open and be able to handle these bad times.
It would also help if you knew how to change a flat, but that's another story.
