Did your Sportsbook Pay?
By Chris Bibey
Unfortunately for everybody concerned, there are online sportsbooks that are not as legit as they may seem. It is a shame that a couple of bad seeds ruin it for the rest, but this is the nature of the industry. When you finally beat the odds and win money, you are expecting to get paid; after all this is why you are placing bets in the first place. So in order to avoid not getting paid when you win, the best thing to do is carefully pick the sportsbook that you are going to be doing business with. Listed below are four steps that you can take in order to ensure that you get paid what you are owed on time.1. Thoroughly research each sportsbook that you are interested in. This means doing more than simply checking out their website. You will want to scour the message boards for the scoop on each sportsbook. This way you will be able to get feedback from people that already use the sportsbooks that is of interest to you.2. Even though you should not rely solely on what a sportsbook website looks like, this can tell you a lot. Does the website look like it is well maintained? Is the information up to date? Is it well put together? If you see flaws in the site or it appears to be out of date, it may be a scam. The best thing to do is avoid these sportsbooks; there are plenty of sites that you can work with that are of high quality.3. Before you sign up with any sportsbook, make sure that you know how you are going to get paid, as well as when your money is supposed to arrive. This differs with every sportsbook so make sure that you know your options. Each site will have different payment methods, as well as different payout times. Knowing this up front may save you a lot of headaches down the road.4. If you run into a situation where you are not getting paid when you are supposed to, there are two things that you can do. First off, you will want to directly contact the site and inquire about the problem. Sometimes there is a legitimate reason that your money has not been processed. If you do not get any satisfaction from this, visit a message board or review site and express your displeasure. You may be surprised to find other people that are in your exact same situation. These people may also be able to help you find a solution. The best way to ensure that your sportsbook will pay you on time is by doing your research up front. But the fact of the matter is that sometimes this does not even work. If you feel that you are owed money, the best thing to do is get in touch with the sportsbook and try to find a resolution. After you are satisfied immediately close your account and move on. If a sportsbook has been late with your money once, chances are that it will happen again.
